Knife Care
Like any quality, hand-made item, your knife will last a lifetime if properly cared for. Here are some guidelines for care and maintenance.
- Always wipe and dry your knife after use. Carbon has a tendency to react with acidic foods (especially fruits & proteins). Keeping your knife clean helps lower the reaction time.
- NEVERĀ under any circumstances put your knife through the dishwasher or allow it to soak in any water
- Before storing your knife make sure it is completely dry. You can coat with a small amount of coconut oil to protect against corrosion
Patina: Over time a patina will form on the steel, this is normal and is caused by a reaction between the metal, the food you are cutting and oxygen in the environment
Handle: The handle of your knife is made of a naturally dense and oily wood. It is very durable, but not indestructible. Do not subject the handle to excessive heat, direct flame, acidic or caustic solutions or long-term submersion in liquid
Storage: To protect your knife, it is recommended to store it in a knife block, on a magnetic bar or with a pastic edge guard
